The Run for Warriors 5k comes to an end.

Local 5k Event Organizers, Jessica Hardesty & Ty Coil, have announced that the Run for Warriors 5k Event held annually in Middle Point, OH at the Middle Point Ball Park on Memorial Day weekend, will not be returning for 2017, or for the future.

This event is organized by Jessica Hardesty & Ty Coil and was started back in 2013 with the goal in mind to raise awareness about Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) & find a way to honor the great men & women of our country. The event was held in Middle Point, OH at the Middle Point Ball Park the weekend of Memorial Day.

This was a difficult decision to make, but one that comes with impressive results. Over the last 4 years, with the help of the local community, business sponsors, racers, race merchandise & donations, the Run for Warriors 5k (R4W5K) has raised $25,000.00! All proceeds from the 5K has gone back to organizations such as: the Fisher House Foundation, the Wounded Warrior Fund, the Middle Point Ballpark & the Middle Point AmVets Post 698. In addition to raising money, a total of 25 care packages, Operation R4W5K Care Packages, have been sent to soldiers actively serving across seas.

The R4W5K Event was used to raise awareness for Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and also to bring a community together to honor the service & sacrifice that is given by the brave men & women of our country.  A total of 652 racers have been accounted for, with 64 being Veteran participants over the past four years.

“We want to extend our thanks to the local community, the race sponsors, and the vendors that we have worked with over the years. We have met so many wonderful veterans, members of their families, community residents & businesses that are just as passionate about our event as we are. Thank you to all that have made an impact in the community & also in many soldiers lives."
